This assessment may be initiated due to school and/or parental concerns about a child’s cognitive functioning, learning, attention, and/or behaviour at school.  Psycho-educational assessments evaluate a child’s  thinking/reasoning abilities

and underlying neuro-cognitive processes, academic achievement, and relevant behavior and social-emotional functioning.

The goal is to identify areas of strength and weakness cognitively and academically so that these areas can be targeted through intervention or additional support.  Often, accomodations or leniencies on tests may be recommended.

This assessment may be initiated due to school and/or parental concerns about a child’s cognitive functioning, learning, attention, and/or behaviour at school.  Psycho-educational assessments evaluate a child’s thinking/reasoning abilities conference with the parents, and if appropriate, school officials.

 

What's included:

• age-appropriate clinical interview with the child

• observations in the classroom, as relevant

• interview with teacher, other remedial teachers or support staff, as relevant

• assessment of school records, including evaluation of standardized testing, psychological tests and reports;

• complete battery of neuro-cognitive tests, aptitude and achievement tests, and other related tests according to the age, ability, and particular needs of the child; testing generally takes place over three-six 1.5 - 2 hour sessions, according to the particular requirements of the situation (age of child, bilingual, complexity)

• referrals to psychiatrists, psychologists, neurologists, physicians, or other therapists;

• comprehensive written report, according to the standards of the Education Ministry;

• written list of appropriate academic recommendations and accommodations, recommendation for testing accommodations including bagrut;

• communications with school counselors or any other professionals, as required
